Number of contacts
This indicates the number of contacts the connector has.
Locking Type
The locking system describes how the pin and socket elements are joined.
  • BayonetThe connection can be secured by means of a partial rotation.
  • M16The connectors can be screwed together to secure the connection. M stands for metric thread and the number stands for the external diameter.
  • Push PullThe connection can be locked by simply pushing. To release the connection, the sleeve on the connector must be pulled back.
Degree of protection
The degrees of protection according to IEC60529 apply to various articles and provide information on protection against the intrusion of water and solids such as dust.
  • IP40Protects against contact with tools, wires and other similar objects of Ø > 1 mm and against the intrusion of foreign bodies of Ø > 1 mm. Does not protect against water.
  • IP67Fully protects against touch and against the intrusion of dust. Protects against water intrusion in temporary immersion (depth: 1 m; duration: 30 minutes).
  • IP67 when unplugged as wellFully protects against touch and against the intrusion of dust. Protects against water intrusion in temporary immersion (depth: 1 m; duration: 30 minutes).
  • IP68Fully protects against touch and against the intrusion of dust. Protects against water intrusion in sustained submersion (depth: 2 m; duration: 24 hours), requirements specification by agreement between producer and user.
Version
The choice of version allows the definition of certain technical specifications – for example the type of cable outlet or the size.
Connector Type
Connectors are differentiated by installation type: those that are mounted in a device housing (panel mount) and those that are attached to cables.
  • Cable mountingConnectors with cable already moulded or for self-assembly.
  • Housing assemblyConnectors that can be mounted to device housings. These can be fixed by means of a locking nut or be screwed in (requires a threaded hole).
Shielded Option
Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) means that a connector is shielded or shieldable. This is required when it is necessary to protect the signals or data conducted by the connector, as well as to protect external devices, from disturbance due to electromagnetic effects.
Product segment
binder areas of application or type of connector.
  • Automation TechnologyAdvancing digitisation and current manufacturing technologies make possible ever smaller and more high-performance elements in the areas of sensor technology and networking. Here, sensor technology means the detection of physical values and their conversion into electric values. These electric values are converted into a digital signal that can be transmitted by means of bus communication to other bus devices. This will make automated production more modular and flexible in the future, with a preference for standardised connectors like the models M8 and M12. The worldwide availability of the connectors and their adaptation to a broad range of applications have already led to numerous versions, e.g. codings.
  • MiniatureConnectors with an external diameter of 16–21.5 mm and various locking systems.
Coding
To avoid mismating, the connector elements – the pin and socket – must be brought into form-fitting alignment with one another (coding) before being locked.
Termination
The termination type determines how cables, single wires or PCBs can be joined with the connector.
  • screw clampThe wires in a cable are pressed in the contact element radially by means of a screw, establishing the electrical contact.
  • single wiresConnectors with contacts attached to individual wires ex factory. These can then be connected individually.
  • solderThe contact and the individual wires of a cable are connected using solder.

Miniature connectors

These seven series of miniature circular connectors are suitable for a wide range of applications thanks to a wide choice of locking systems, contact arrangements, IP protection classes and connections. Customers can choose between push-pull, snap-in, bayonet and M16 locking. Depending on the series, connectors with 2 to 24 contacts are available in cable or flange versions. Connection types are crimp, dip solder, screw clamp and solder connections, stranded wires and moulded cable. Like all products from binder, these miniature connectors are manufactured from high-quality materials for a long and reliable service life. Many are UL and VDE approved, some are ASIG compliant.

Features:

• Protection class IP40, IP67, IP67 shielded or IP68
• 2 to 24 poles
• Straight and angled cable versions
• Flange versions
• Gold or silver plated brass and bronze contacts
• 1000 mating cycles and more
• Multiple locking systems including bayonet, snap-in and M16
